Birth: July 31, 1925
Eugene was the 7th of 10 children born to Iven and Agusta (White) Kilmer. Eugene was a Navy Corpman in the 6th Marine Division and was in on the invasion of Okinawa in World War II. He was wounded during this combat and awarded the Purple Heart. Eugene retired from Phillips Pipeline May 31, 1985 after 32 years of service.
Eugene and Helen Wilson were married January 26, 1947 at the Wesleyan Church Parsonage in Abilene, KS. Reverend Floyd Kaiser was the minister.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Helen of 65 years and their four children and spouses: Rick (Vickie) Kilmer; Jeanne Ann (Earl) Ray; Jane (Doug) McClellan; and Wilson (Gwen) Kilmer.
They have eight grandchildren: Jayme (Chris) Brown, Brian (Lisa) Kilmer, Casey (Angie) Ray, Randi (Casey) Godown, Ashley McClellan, Katie McClellan, Olson (Maddie) Kilmer, and Tanner Kilmer.
Also nine great-grandchildren: Cody and Shawna Brown, Brayden and Ameila Kilmer, Jaared and Jaavan Davis, Jacee, Kaydnn and Kayleb Ray.
Also surviving are brother Ivan (Dorothy) Kilmer, Dorothy (Paul) Johnson and sister-in-law Lavonna Kilmer, plus many nieces and nephews.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents Iven and Agusta Kilmer, sisters Lorene Stewart, Ruth Dyche, Bernice McCaffrey; brothers Earl Kilmer, John Kilmer, Raymond Kilmer, and Lewis Kilmer.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Wichita First Wesleyan Church.
Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm, Monday, July 2, at Broadway Mortuary. Funeral Services, 10 am, Tuesday, July 3, at First Wesleyan Church, 1700 S. Market.
